How can I enable compression of the web pages served?

It is possible to enable gzip compression of the web pages served by DeskNow. This can be useful to save bandwidth, but incurs in a small performance hit.

To enable compression, edit the \desknow\conf\server.xml file, locate the normal (non-SSL, typically on  port 80) "Connector" element, and add the following attribute:

compression="on"

Example:

<Connector port="80"
               maxThreads="150" minSpareThreads="25" maxSpareThreads="75"
               enableLookups="false" debug="0" redirectPort="443" acceptCount="100"
               connectionTimeout="20000" disableUploadTimeout="true" compression="on"/>

We do not recommend enabling compression for SSL connections, as some browsers may have issues with it.
