If you already have an SSL certificate generated for an Apache web server, you can still use it in DeskNow.

Typically you would have two files for your Apache certificate: a .key file that contains your private key, and a .crt file that contains the public key. The .crt file should have been sent to you by a trusted certification authority.

Your goal is to combine them into a single httpkeystore file, located in desknowdatassl . This (once you have run the updateHttpKeystore command), is the SSL cert used by DeskNow, and it follows the standard Java Keystore format.

To convert a .crt+.key keypair into a single keystore, we recommend using a tool from IBM: http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/keyman/download

Brief how-to-use

• See the instructions in the package to install and run the tool
• click on 'Create New' / 'Keystore'
• Click File/Import , select "Local Resource/Open a File" and select the .key file
• Click File/Import , select "Local Resource/Open a File" and select the .crt file
• Click File/Save , input the passphrase 'changeit' without quotes, and save the file to \desknowdata\ssl\httpkeystore (overwrite existing)
• close tool
• run \desknowdata\ssl\updateHttpHeystore.bat as usual
